Optimized Body Structure

A highlight to the Certate along with several other Daiwa spinning reels, its one-piece Monocoque aluminum body enhances the reels overall rigidity while eliminating common problems seen on other designs. Common spinning reels utilize a multi-piece construction with three or four thin screws to secure them together, subjecting heavy loads on to these screws which only gets worse overtime. These screws also serve as multiple entryways for water and other contaminants to enter into vital portions of the reels interior. With Daiwa’s Monocoque design, its side plate simply screws into the reel body itself, improving the housing design and preventing deflection under load due to its larger surface area. By eliminating the screws of the common spinning reel, it also has the side benefit of a larger, interference free body which accommodates a larger main gear and other internals, improving their strength and longevity of the reel.

Dynamic Torque and Power

At the heart of this reel resides its Tough Digigear design, made from a superior duralumin material. The rigid material is cold-forged and precision machine-cut to achieve the ideal tooth shape for enhanced strength and effortless rotation. The gearing itself is larger in design compared to typical reels of its size thanks to its monocoque body. A specialized surface treatment is applied to minimize damage to the gears caused by high loads. Reels with the XH gear ratio in the 3000, 4000, and 5000 sizes are further enhanced by a high-strength pinion, a design which comes from the Saltiga with a proven trark record.

Seamless Handle Rotation System

An innovative masterpiece that sets this reel apart from the rest, its Airdrive Design is made up of four key components. Each works to give greater control back to the angler, enhancing both their experience on the water and the abilities when presenting lures and more to their next target.

• Airdrive Spool - The reels newly shaped spool skirt and overall structure works to eliminate unnecessary weight. With this design the total weight of the reel is reduced, oscillation is improved, and resistance of the winding rotation is lessened.
• Airdrive Rotor - Gives control back to the angler, allowing the reel to perform exactly as intended by lowering the inertia required to both start & stop winding rotation. By showcasing an easy winding sensation, Airdrive Rotor allows the angler to react quickly and instantly to bites, especially on slack line.
• Airdrive Bail - The next evolution of Air Bail, this redesigned Airdrive Bail works to reduce weight while retain its power and strength. A 2.4mm bailwire is equipped on all 2024 Certate Reels.
• Airdrive Shaft - Produces a non-contact structure between the mainshaft and the pinion gear. In addition to this, both ends of pinion gear are now supported with bearings to transmit the crank power from the handle to the rotor with a higher level of efficiency. By adding high quality collars to the mainshaft, rotational noise has been reduced significantly.
